Fun with flowers

Happy Friday! I love to try new things with embellishments and here I experimented with some flowers:

These are hydrangea petals (Forever Flowers, Prima Marketing) that are folded, curled and layered a bit...

And these are some selfmade roses with bling:

And yummy Pink Paislee paper...

And some tulle...

And the last project is an altered notebook with folded, layered Prima flowers and pearls...

And some more Pink Paislee...

Thanks for visiting! I hope your weekend is fabulous!

Vanessa

A Passion for Papertrey - Pretty Petals

Happy Thursday! Today I just played with new stamps. I should have worked on the PC call, but I played. That's what I like best! No sketch, no given colors, nothing but new stamps to inspire me! This is my result and it happens to fit the current "Pretty Petals" Challenge on "A Passion for Papertrey":

All supplies are Papertrey Ink, except for the pearls (Prima Marketing). I had so much fun creating this. Sigh. I am planning to plant sweet peas in our garden. Just have to figure out a good way to give them growth support.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! I am sorry I am not around that much, but I enjoy every minute outside with my little girl! Don't feel obliged to leave comments - I love you just the same :) Sending sunshine your way!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Art on Wings - New Vinnie Pearce

Hello dear friends! Tuesday is digi-kit-release-day over at 2Peas, but I am always a day late! Vinnie Pearce released another fabulous kit called "Art on Wings 01" (Yay, that indicates that there'll be more in the future!). It contains five beautiful, artful butterflies. Here is my project using one of them:

I love giftbags and boxes! That background paper is from another Vinnie Pearce digi-kit called "Art papers II". I colored the flowers softly with pencils and stamped over everything with the Hero Arts cling stamp "Friend Definition". The sentiment and pearls are Hero Arts, too.

Have a wonderful Wednesday and thanks so much for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Poolside Inspiration

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a fab weekend! Our visit to the zoo was fun, but we had some drama when Alyssa wasn't allowed to touch every animal she saw :) The cutest thing happened when we watched the sea lions. After one breached the water surface and blew the water out of his nose she screamed "Bless You!"
But I am here to share a card and not bore you with stories of a mother hen! When I saw today's new Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World I was inspired immediately! Love the colors! Here is my take:

The paper, pearls, flowers and the flourish stamp are all Prima Marketing. For the butterflies I just cut off one petal and voilà! The sentiment is from PTI's Damask Design set.

Ok, sun is shining, naptime is over - I am leaving for the garden! Hope your day is fabulous!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Monochromatic Part two

Happy Friday! Like I promised, another monochromatic card for the Caardvarks challenge! This one "happened" in minutes during naptime:

I made that fabric rose a while ago and it sat on my desk waiting to be used (little note from my husband who is watching me writing this post: "And there are sitting a lot of things!").
For the leaves I used Core'dinations cardstock, cut them out and distressed them. That beautiful flourish on the background is this stamp from Hero Arts. Pearls are Prima Marketing and the sentiment is from my new favorite Technique Tuesday stamp set.

My husband has a day off (well, not exactly, he'll have to work Saturday night) and we will go to the Zoo with our girl! Can't wait to see her reaction, everytime she sees an animal somewhere she wants to take it :)

I hope your day is wonderful and you have a great start into your weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet words!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Monochromatic Part one

Happy Thursday! Caardvarks is hosting a new challenge sponsored by Core'dinations and I loved the idea of creating some monochromatic cards! Here are two I made last night - more to follow :)

This first one is made using patterned papers from Vinnie Pearce's newest (and beautiful) digikit called "Poised". I love every single paper and element of this kit! Check it out here! For the background I used some Core'dinations cardstock, embossed it and sanded it. The couch and the cat are PTI stamps, the sentiment is Ali Edward's handwriting for Technique Tuesday.

For my second card I used the little plane from the PTI "Tiny Treats: Valentine" set. I wanted to buy the new "Fly Away" set, but surprise surprise it was sold out again :(
But sweet Aimes reminded me of this cute little plane here and I used that instead. Here is a close-up to show its glossiness (made with Glossy Accents):

The clouds and the dots are Hero Arts stamps.

Ok, off to do some cleaning! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Vanessa

2 Sketches 4 You - Thank You Card

Happy Wednesday! Because of the great weather I am not around that much, but today I have a card to share. It's my take on Laura's sketch #50:

Love the new Pink Paislee Collections! For this card I used 365 Degrees and Queen Bee stuff. Yumm! And I finally got the Martha Stewart Loop Punch! Yay!

Ok, I am off to visit a dear friend! Hope you have a great day and thanks so much for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Card Patterns - Dahlia

Hello again! Yes, a second post today! It's naptime right now and I had the chance to play with my new stamps. So I managed to finish a card with Card Patterns Sketch # 59 just in time:

I will give this to my Mother in Law on Mother's day. We both love dahlias but haven't planted them in our garden, because we would have to dig them out every winter. I didn't use a sentiment, I want to write everything I want to tell her inside.

Enjoy your day! We finally have sunshine today and I am waiting for my little girl to wake up so we can play in the garden :)

Hugs,
Vanessa

Supplies:
Everything Papertrey Ink, except for ink (Tsukineko) and gems (Hero Arts). Coloring media markers (Copic) and colored pencils (Faber Castell)

Last of my Win a Day cards - Flora

Happy Friday! Here is the last group of cards I made for my Hero Arts Day on the Blog. These are all Flora-themed. My favorite one was this which was chosen:

The poppies are colored with copics. I wanted to change the look of the stamp a bit, so I used one of the larger poppies two times and just tilted it a bit when adhering it to the card. It's the one on the right side. Next is a card using this stamp set again:

I used distress inks misted with perfect pearls to color the roses. When clicking onto the close-up you might be able to see the soft shimmer. Looks good in real life:

Here is another poppy card where I colored the flower with copics. I love poppies - they remind me of the beautiful poppy fields in the tuscany. Love to use the emboss resist technique tone on tone:

And this is a clean and simple looking card. But it wasn't that easy to manage to stamp the leaves exactly onto the background and the squares:

The last card is made with the emboss resist technique again. The white cardstock was blended with old paper distress ink, then I clear embossed the fern and applied peeled paint distress ink. After that I stamped the text stamp with walnut stain ink. I thought the rustic twine adds a bit to the nature theme:

Ok, I am finished with my Win a Day cards. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! It was so much fun to play with the stamps.

Have a fabulous Friday and thanks for visiting again!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Fun with ribbon

Happy Thursday! I wanted to try different things with ribbon and here are some cards showing the result. First a card using this week's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch by Kazan:

I used some yummy Prima flowers and pearls. That pretty patterned paper is from this Vinnie Pearce digikit. And the grey Label and the brad are Pink Paislee.
Then a Mother's Day card for my Mom, another entry for the Hero Arts April Challenge "Home and Mother's Day":

Isn't that bird the cutest? It's from this gorgeous stamp set and I colored it with copics. The white stamping (love to do this on Kraft...) is made with these stamps. And the words are spelled with this Alphabet set.
And another card with pleated ribbon:

Again the stamping on the paper is made with the Speckled Ornaments set. And the patterned paper and this butterfly are from this FREE digi kit Vinnie Pearce offered on her blog. And Prima Pearls. Can't remember a card not using gems :)

I hope you are all well and that you have a great day! Thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

Butterfly Pompom

Happy Tuesday! I am back with some Homedecoration for my girl's room. I fell in love with paper pompoms recently and thought this would be a nice thing for a little girl:

To make her pompoms special, I stamped and colored some Hero Arts Butterflies from this fabulous set to fly in her room:

This is another entry to the Hero Arts April Challenge "Home and Mother's Day". So many possibilities for this challenge!

I hope you have a great day and thank you for visiting!

Vanessa

Go-To Sketch # 28

Happy Monday! Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my Jumping-For-Joy-PC-Cover-Post! I am glad I put a smile on your faces :)
Today I am back with a card I made for my husband's nephew who turned two. I needed a starting point, so I used Kim Kesti's Go-To Sketch #28 from the Moxie Fab World Challenge "Get Sketchy":

The "bubble" is handdrawn and "Jonas" is written by my husband who tried to imitade the font of the sentiment. The banner is from the Vinnie Pearce digi kit "Toy Box"

The little whale is from this cute Unity stamp set. I colored it with pencils and added Glossy Accents, but I wasn't able to capture its glossiness on the photo. The waves were created following Lisa Spangler's instructions from this video.

We visited our nephew yesterday and it was so cute to see my little girl with him! They hugged each other and stood there cheek to cheek! My heart was melting - but do you think we were able to take a photo? No. Three cameras, no photo...

I hope you have a fabulous Monday! Thanks for visiting, my friends!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Sorry, I couldn't help it :)

NOTE:
***No Paper Crafts Magazines were harmed during the photo shooting!***

Haha, I mentioned that I am not very mature...my Paper Crafts Magazine arrived today with my first ever Pubs and my card on the cover. This is what happens at Casa Menhorn when we are unleashed:

Happy Weekend!

Picking up the Pieces - Literally

Happy Friday! First, I am sorry Cath - this is my fifth entry to the Moxie Fab World "Picking up the Pieces" Challenge! And you really leave comments on every single entry - thank you for taking the time to do this! But I had this idea and had to give it a try:

A great way to use up scraps! Can you tell I love these Papertrey Ink papers?

Ok, that's it for today! I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Vanessa

Hi! This week's prize sponsor for CPS Sketch #161 is no other than Hero Arts! I had to enter this! And because I can't help it, I paperpieced that butterfly:

Short post - the sun is shining and I want to go outside with my girl!

Have a great day!

Happy Thoughts - New Vinnie Pearce

Hi dear friends! Vinnie Pearce released a sweet new digi kit, called "Live, Laugh, Love" yesterday and I thought this cute little bird needed a home, so I built him one:

The elements and papers of this kit are adorable, check it out here! The branch is a stamp from this Hero Arts set and the sentiment is from this set (btw, my friend Sanne is having a blog candy where you can win this set!).

Have a fabulous Wednesday and thanks for visiting!
