Card Patterns Sketch # 100

Happy Saturday!! I am back with my sample for this fun sketch:

This week's challenge is sponsored by "Designed 2 Delight" and we were able to play with their adorable digi stamps for this sketch:

I used the little "Garden Fairy", colored her with copics and colored pencils and dressed her up with an October Afternoon dress. All the paper is October Afternoon again - so love it! That sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on. And that seam-binding is hand-dyed with distress inks.

So, I hope you'll join us at Card Patterns this week! Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful weekend!!!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Cute Tags

Happy Friday! Are you looking forward to the weekend? We seem to get some sunshine here - yay! And I can't wait for the first photos of CHA! I hope my wishlist won't become too long :)

Here are three fun tags I made with various "My Cute Stamps" sets:

For the first one I used some flowers and the butterfly from the "Night Owl" set and the Happy Birthday from the "Birthday Numbers" set. Everything is colored with copics.

On the second one I paper-pieced the balloon from the "Birthday Numbers" set.

The third one uses the yummy cake from the "Birthday Numbers" set, the Congratulations is from "Ashley's Blossoms" and the little rose from "Tea Party".

I am into tags recently - I think it's such a nice detail on a gift!

Have a beautiful, sunny, funny day! Thanks for visiting

Vanessa

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge

Happy Tuesday! I am back with a card for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge!

Here is what the January Challenge is all about:

New Year's Resolution

With the new year comes a clean slate along with many resolutions. This month's blog hop challenge
involves you challenging yourself to use a Papertrey stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that
might be collecting a little dust! Go through your stash and see what little used treasure it might hold. If
you are in need of inspiration for your chosen set, feel free to utilize the gallery posted in the side bar of
each set's sale page on our website, or go to the Previous Countdown page on Nichole's blog where
each set is organized by month of release. 2011 is the year where what's old is new again!

Ok, I am sure I am not the only one with too many stamps collecting a little dust :) I decided to pull out my Giga Guidelines Set. I use those word stamps of this set quite often, but the rest - well, they deserve more attention! So here is my card:

I first tried stamping on my dust-collecting Guidelines Cardstock, but it didn't turn out like I wanted. Then I played a bit on scraps of paper and came up with this doily like thing. I hope you like it!

You'll find a list of all the participants of the blog hop here on Nichole's blog. Have fun hopping!

Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful day!!!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Happy Birthday little brother!

Happy Sunday! So, my little brother turned 30 today! We celebrated all day long and enjoyed a lot of food! Now I am here sharing the card I made for him:

Isn't he adorable? That's an old photo of him in a vineyard of my Dad's aunt in Sicily. Love it! The most masculine paper I found in my stash was the Old School Collection minipad from Pink Paislee. That sticker on top is from Crate's Restoration Collection. Here is the inside:

I used one of the Jillibean Soup Sprouts with an "0" on it and just added the "3" sticker from Pink Paislee. That little pocket is sewn to the card to hold some cash. He wanted to get some real good ear buds for his roadwork. All the paper edges of the card are inked with Walnut Stain distress ink for a worn look.

Have a beautiful Sunday everybody and thanks for visiting!!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Playing with a new stamp

Happy Thursday! Wow, where has this week gone??? No idea! I even didn't have time to check out the fabulous Hero Arts Hostesses Blog Hop yet! But I enjoyed some time with a new best friend last night - the Large Blossom Cling Stamp from the new 2011 Hero Arts Catalog. I got this stamp from a sweet sweet friend and love it!! Here are some samples:

Card one and two are very simple, I just stamped the blossoms onto cream cardstock and colored their middle with a yellow pencil:

The third card features one of my favorite techniques, emboss resist:

I heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder and colored it with distress inks, using a brush. The background on all cards is my all-time favorite cling "Friend Definition".

I hope you are well wherever you are! I can't help but reading more and more bad news everywhere - floods, blizzards, horrible diseases. I almost fear blog hopping these days! Please stay safe dear friends!!!

Hugs and Love,
Vanessa

Card Patterns Sketch # 97

Happy Saturday! Time for my first card as a Design Team Member of Card Patterns! And it is a fun coincidence that the first sponsor I got to work with is Tiffany Doodles because I was on her Design Team last year. So here is my card for Sketch # 97:

I used the digi Poppy w/Oval, printed it onto cream cardstock and patterned paper, die-cut a circle from the cardstock, colored the leaves and stems and paper-pieced the blossoms. The edges of the blossoms are inked with distress ink and the centers are slightly colored with a brown pencil to create more depth. The largest blossom is adhered with foam tape.

If you have any questions about my projects or products I used, please send me an email - some of you like to ask questions in their comments, but it is difficult to remember them all and I forget about them easily. But an email will be checked and answered as soon as I can!

I really hope you will play with us this week! This sketch is fabulous! Check out the details here!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting!!!

Vanessa

Color Inspiration for Card Makers

Happy Wednesday! Finally I am allowed to share a card I made for the fabulous Paper Crafts Special Issue Color Inspiration for Card Makers. It has been the hardest submissions call for me ever. I don't know how often I digged through my supplies to find matching product for the color swatches - and the little color samples prepared by Paper Crafts to make sure every Designer really uses the right colors arrived on my doorstep 2 days before deadline. Not much time to create and check the colors! I was so relieved when I got 5 cards accepted, so it was worth the hard work :) Here is the sample I chose to share with you:

Can you tell I love October Afternoon? That pink typewriter is the cutest. I got my Issue of the magazine yesterday and it is amazing!!! When I flipped through it, my jaw dropped at the sight of the cards the Designers came up with! Beautiful! Be sure to get your issue here - it is a source of wonderful inspiration!!

Have a very happy day and thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

I ♥ Cupcards {2 Go}

Happy Monday! I was thrilled when Cassonda from Cupcards {2 Go} invited me to be a Guest Designer for January. Due to the Christmas-mail-chaos and the snow it took too long to arrive, but today my kit arrived! And I so love it. I immediately started creating cards with it and can't stop it! This fabulous kit will be available tonight, 6 pm PT. I've never worked with a kit before, but it is so easy and fun! Matching paper, embellishments, rub-ons, trims - I am in cardmaking heaven! Here is a little sneek peak of one of the cards:

Can't wait for the evening to come to go back to my crafty corner creating more cards :) Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Vanessa

Here is another Mini Card I made, using My Cute Stamps:

I used the yummy "Little Cupcake" and the sentiment from the "Birthday Numbers" set. I applied some glitter to the little heart for a sugared look. So love this paper from October Afternoon! Sigh.
