Watercolored Butterflies

Hi everyone! I was about to play with my watercolors and a newly purchased MFT stamp set when I saw that the new MFT Sketch Challenge would work perfectly for my idea. So I made a card using the Beautiful Butterflies set. What's even better, this card fits the current SSS Wednesday Challenge and the Work It Wednesday Challenge. Phew, all good things come in threes. Maybe :)

This is the sketch:

And my butterfly card:

Oh, how I loved coloring these! I started with a panel of watercolor paper and stamped the black portions of the butterflies with waterproof ink. Now I stamped the solid parts with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. Using Peerless Watercolors, I colored the wings with a brush and added tiny paint splatters to the background.
After everything was dried, I adhered the panel to the card. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of blue cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder and notched the edge. I adhered the sentiment with foam tape and added clear droplets to finish off the card.

I tried various watercolor types like the Inktense Pencils and solid watercolor boxes, but I have to say that the Peerless Watercolors looked best - they are the most vibrant.

I hope you like my take on the sketch! Thanks for stopping by!

Vanessa

Vanessa, who makes the water droplets and what do you use to adhere them so they remain clear after drying? Thank you kindly, C.
