Popsicles & Pinwheels

Happy Summer! We are enjoying over 30°C here and this week's challenge on "The Shabby Tea Room" was perfect for my mood! Here is my take on "Popsicles & Pinwheels":

Another card de-hoarding some paper - this time I used the Basic Grey "Lemonade" paper. Perfect for this challenge as it is required to use turquoise, hot pink and bright green! Love this cool turquoise.

I hope you are enjoying summer, too! Would love to know your favorite way to stay cool :)

Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

More October Afternoon

Happy Tuesday! Here is some more stuff I created using "The Thrift Shop" Collection. I told ya I can't stop using it :)

This first card is my take on the PC Go-To Sketch Challenge #4. And here is a tag I first wanted to use for my wall-hanging, but it didn't fit:

And another card because I had so much fun with that butterfly:

Sorry for my stamping friends, but I will post some stamped cards soon!

Enjoy your day! Thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

I LOVE...

October Afternoon's "The Thrift Shop" Collection!!! And I couldn't resist buying some stickers and a paperpad. Now I can't stop using it and made this wall-hanging (inspired by Katie Watson who made a tag-wall-hanging):

I made some more cards/tags and will share them tomorrow. Have a beautiful day everybody and thanks for visiting!

Off to bed!

Vinnie Pearce Poppies and Color Layering

Happy Thursday! Today I have three cards to share. I would be able to share two more cards from my de-hoarding project, but I'll better post them tomorrow... Anyway, here are three cards I made for the Hero Arts June "Summer, 4th of July, Color Layering" challenge:

This first card felt like cheating! Vinnie Pearce's papers are so beautiful - I only resized and printed this and added my butterfly and the pearls. The paper is from the digi-kit "Art Papers II". Gorgeous and dramatic, isn't it? The butterfly is from my beloved Hero Arts set "Antique Engravings" and I colored it with copics.
My second card uses the color layering technique. I love to combine pink with brown. And I love butterflies and the Hero Arts Old Letter Writing stamp!! This technique is so much fun. Just ink up the stamps and stamp. And then again and again... Ha.

I had so much fun stamping and stamping that I inked up the "Speckled Ornaments" set, too:

The patterned paper and the brad are from Melody Ross's Artsy Urban Collection for GCD Studios. The seambinding is dyed with the same ink I used for stamping.

Have a beautiful and sunny day! Thanks for visiting :)

Vanessa

Embellish Babies Color Challenge

Happy Wednesday! I loved the soft colors from the current Embellish Challenge and the idea of making some babycards, so I made this set:

Everything is Papertrey Ink. Love this little snail! Keeping it short, I have to run some errands...

Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Yummy Crate Paper - Dehoarding Part I

Happy Tuesday! I am back from my submission-call-marathon! And it really was a marathon. I am not sure if I want to share the number of cards I created for this call - it would be too embarrassing to not get accepted some cards :) But I had so much fun! Just playing with all my stuff. Doing what I like best. And I realized that I love to use patterned paper for calls a lot. I have sooooo much paper, I have to start de-hoarding it! Crate Paper is having a Design Team Call at the moment and I had (hoarded) some yummy paper from them, so I quickly made these:

I love the texture of their paper! I am proud that I produced a Baby card that would fit for a boy or a girl. The bee stamp is from this cute Hero Arts set. Flowers and gems are Prima Marketing and buttons are Papertrey Ink.

I hope you are all well! Have a beautiful day and thank you for visiting!

Vanessa

Masculine card

Happy Thursday! I am still here! I decided to concentrate on cards for submissions for a while, so I don't have a lot to share at the moment. But I needed a card for my husband's uncle and made this last weekend:

I am not good at masculine cards, but this beautiful Hero Arts stamp set worked perfectly! Using the color layering technique is so much fun and easy and quick! You still have time to try it and enter this month's Hero Arts challenge! The 70 is made with Thickers. I just scored the lines with my Score-Pal for some dimension.

My Elderflowersirup is finished now - and oh so yummy! And even better, I made some Elderflower-Orange-Jelly, too and this is divine! I will share everything soon!

Have a beautiful day, thanks for still visiting me and for your sweet comments! I will catch up with you all soon!

Hugs,
Vanessa

One of my published cards...

Happy Friday! I hope your week was fabulous! I am not around that much, summer finally arrived here and we have been spending our time outside. It's impossible to stay inside without aircondition - we live under the roof and it's too hot in here. I don't have a new card to share, but I remembered that I am allowed to share one card from my Paper Crafts publication and I thought I'd share the one that only made it a Online Bonus Project. Here is a larger photo of my card:

Love that cute little Jenni Bowlin paper with the bird. The sentiment rub-on is Melissa Frances and the other patterned paper is October Afternoon.

Yesterday I made Elderflowersirup. The elder bushes finally blossomed out and I always wanted to try that. I took photos and will share the recipe when the sirup is finished in some days.

Things I've learned today:
In the eyes of an almost two year old girl, it's essential that only her Mom turns on lights or opens the door to the kitchen. It's a disaster if her Dad does this instead...

Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa

First Tiffany Doodles Challenge!

Happy Monday! It's time for the very first Tiffany Doodles Challenge! From now on there will be a challenge starting every 7th of the month that will last through the end of the month. You'll have 4 chances to win up to 7 Digis from Tiffany Doodles! Here is my sample for the first challenge, which is a sketch challenge:

I used Tiffany's amazing Dogwood Branch, placed it over some background text from this Hero Arts kit and printed it onto pink cardstock. Then I printed it once more without the background text to cut out the three blossoms and pop them up. The blossoms are colored lightly with pencils, the leaves of the branch are colored with Copics.

The butterfly is from this Hero Arts stamps set and colored with pencils, too. And the pearls are Prima Marketing:

Cardstock, patterned paper, sentiment and button are all Papertrey Ink. The ribbon is some of my hand-dyed seam binding. And here is the sketch to follow:

I hope you'll play with us! Check out the challenge and all the fabulous samples of the Design Team and Tiffany on Tiffany Doodles!

Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Fun with fabric

Happy Weekend! Just popping in to share a card I made for the Moxie Fab World Challenge "Fun with Fabric" last night. Not a very creative use, but I love fabric flowers:

I made the flower with the Papertrey Ink "Beautiful Blooms II" die #1. And the felt leaves are cut with the leaves die from the "Delightful Dahlia" set:

The patterned paper is Pink Paislee. And the sentiment is PTI again from this set.

Have a beautiful weekend! And thanks for visiting :)

Vanessa

Felt heart

Happy Friday!! I hope you have a fab one! We finally got some sun today and I spent most of my day outside. But during naptime I made this card for this week's The Shabby Tea Room Challenge "Dear to my heart" :

The background paper is Webster's Pages, the center piece is from this fab Vinnie Pearce digi kit called "ATC Card Elements". The sentiment and button are PTI and the gems are Hero Arts. I die-cut the little feltheart with a Provo-Craft die and stitched it with floss.

Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting!!

Hugs,
Vanessa

New Design Team!

Happy Thursday! While I was in Italy I got a sweet email from Tiffany, asking me if I'd like to be on her Design Team. I was thrilled and honored and immediately said yes - but that little email never made its way from Italy to Tiff! We found out about that last week and now I am proud to announce that I am part of Tiffany Doodles Design Team! I missed the fabulous blog hop :( But I hope you checked out all the amazing creations - they were fab! Here is a card using one of Tiff's beautiful flower images:

This flower is a FREEBIE that you could get here. I colored it with copics. The black background is some yummy Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock that I embossed with the PTI Tin Type Impression Plate and sanded, the patterned paper is PTI.

I hope you have a fabulous day! We have a holiday in Germany today and because of the rain we went to an Indoor Playground - I've never seen so many screaming, crazy, overwrought kids! My little one was calm, but I had to watch that none of the other kids knocked her down :)

Thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

Color layering - with butterflies

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's June already - and no signs of summer here! Rain rain rain. I hope it's better where ever you are! I made a sunny card for this month's new Hero Arts challenge to fight the rainblues, using the Color layering technique Shari Carroll showed in this video:

A close-up of the butterfly, that I quickly colored with the same distress inks I used for stamping:

For this card I used Ranger Distress inks Wild Honey, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed. The butterfly is from this all-time favorite Hero Arts stamp set.

I hope you are all well! Thanks for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa
