New Vinnie Pearce Collections!

Hello! Today is a big day for my Vinnie. It's the launch of her new website, the release of three amazing new collections and two sweet freebies for grab! Check out Vinnie Pearce Downloads.
So far, I made three cards. But more stuff will follow!

Hallo! Heute ist ein grosser Tag für meine Vinnie. Die Eröffnung ihrer neuen Webseite, die Veröffentlichung von drei beeindruckenden neuen Kollektionen und zwei süsse Freebies kann man auch noch einpacken! Schaut Euch mal Vinnie Pearce Downloads an.
Bis jetzt habe ich drei Karten gemacht. Aber es folgt noch mehr Zeugs!

The first two cards are made with the collaboration kit "Retrouvailles". Oh, how I love it! You might think that I did a lot of cutting and paper-piecing and sewing on the first card. But I didn't :)
I just printed that zig-zag element twice and adhered it to my cardbase.

The third card is made with the adorable kit "About a Boy":

Die dritte Karte habe ich mit dem putzigen Kit "About a Boy" gemacht:

Vinnie is celebrating the launch of the website with a sale! Most of her previous collections are available, too! Go here and start shopping. Best thing is, you don't have to wait for a mailman but you can start playing with your goodies immediately!

The "A Fuchsia Christmas" Collection is available here. Now to a layout. Here I used elements from various kits, just having fun playing around:

Echo Park Fresh Face Designer - Post # 3

Hello! Here come the projects I made for my third post as Echo Park's Fresh Face Designer for November. This is all about little girls. First, a home décor item that is useful for a scrapbooker:

This altered clipboard was made to display a photo that can be easily replaced and to hold more photos, journaling, memorabilia etc. on its backside to scrapbook the photos later:

All the papers and the stickers I used are from the Happy Days Collection. And this collection is so fun! Here I made a girly card using it:

Now to two more projects, this time using the Season's Greetings collection again. Echo Park offers great digital die-cut shapes via iDIECUT.com. I used the snowflake shapes from the before-mentioned collection to make a pretty shirt for my girl and to create a shaped card. Here is my sweet little model with the results:

Haha, she had some fun showing her new shirt:

Here you can see the card a bit better:

Creating shaped cards is very easy. Here is how I did it:

Here are the shapes that I die-cut from cardstock and patterned paper
I inked the edges of the patterned paper snowflake and adhered it to one of the cardstock pieces. This will be the front of the card. Then I scored the shape for the back of the card at one peak and assembled the two pieces, putting the adhesive only to the small, scored part.
The finished card looks like this

I hope you enjoyed today's projects! If you have any questions, please write me an email. You will find the address on top of my blog.

Thank you for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Hugs and Love,
Vanessa

Guest Designer for Two Peas in a Bucket

Hello again for my second post today! As the titel already told you, I had the huge honor to be a guest designer over at Two Peas in a Bucket! I tell you, I almost fell off my chair when I got an email from Jamie Sorenson! She asked me to make a card for the class

In this free class, you'll learn everything about how to use the principles of design on your projects. You can find this class here. I made three cards trying to show the principles of Proportion and Scale. Here they are:

The first one is hybrid, using a butterfly from the Hero Arts digi kit Flutterbies. I layered three different sized butterflies over the digi kit Friendship Definition, printed them and cut them out. The paper is from the My Mind's Eye Collection Lost & Found 2 Sunshine. Here is a closer look at the butterfly:

Next is another hybrid card:

Here I printed the butterfly in the uncolored version and colored it with Copics and colored pencils. The hydrangea is stamped and heat-embossed and then colored with glimmer mist (blossom) and Copics (leaves). The paper is MME again, this time Lost & Found 2 Breeze.

And here is the last card:

One of my favorite little Hero Arts birds, paper-pieced and adhered with glue-dots. The seam-binding is hand-dyed with glimmer mist. And the paper is MME again. Here it is Lost & Found 2 Blush.

Now, I hope you like my cards! Check them out here to find out more about what I thought when I made them. And go here for the Design School. You'll find amazing projects from people who really know what they do!

Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Vanessa

Fanatical. About Botanical. About Hydrangea.

* Edited on Sunday, 08/07/2011 to add the photos of the bag and the glass *
Happy Saturday! On Monday, my MIL will turn 70. She stubbornly refuses to receive any presents. Ha. But receiving something handmade isn't really a present, isn't it? It's just something I made, because I enjoyed making it. I made her a set that consists of a card, a bookmark and a notepad so far. Maybe I'll add an embossed pencil and a decorated glass with some coupons (for things like brunch, trips to the botanical garden etc. - if my BIL will finally call me back to finish this, but that's another story...). But now to the projects. I love botanical. My MIL does. And we love hydrangea, although they are not willing to bloom well in our garden! I decided to use the gorgeous, beloved hydrangea stamp from Hero Arts for this. First the card:

The background text is from the Hero Arts digi kit "Old Letter Writing". I own the stamp, too, but I needed a different size for this. You'll find a link to the digi stamp in that box on my sidebar. Really useful! The edges of the panel are inked with Walnut Stain distress ink. The hydrangea is stamped and then heat-embossed using black embossing powder. Don't you love the vibrant color of the hydrangea? I used glimmer mist spray and a brush to color it and it is so so easy! Because the embossing resists the color, you just can't do anything wrong! For the leaves I just spritzed some Peeled Paint distress ink with water and colored them with a brush.
Here is the note-pad:

And here is the bookmark:

And this is a closer look at the hydrangea:

And here is the whole set. Mmh, I may need to make a gift bag...

I will enter this to the Fanatical about Botanical challenge over at Moxie Fab World. I so love this challenge, my head is spinning with botanical ideas! You have until Monday to make something for that challenge, so start creating!

So, off to think about a gift bag! Thank you for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Hugs and Love,
Vanessa

Supplies:
Hydrangea Stamp, Digi Stamp: Hero Arts
Cardstock, Ribbon, Button, Note-pad: PTI
Ink: Ranger Industries
Dies: Spellbinders
Glimmer Mist: Tattered Angels
Other: Black Embossing Powder, Twine

So, today (Sunday) I was able to finish the whole set. I added a glass filled with coupons:

And a gift bag where I cut out the image and stamped a distressed background with the Old Letter Writing Stamp:

Here is another photo of the whole set now that it's finished:

Thanks again for visiting! Happy Weekend!

Another Hero Arts Owl

Happy Wednesday! I am back with the last little owl that was waiting colored on my desk from the weekend. Here is its new home:

This one is colored with Copics again. I seperated it from its branch to change the look a bit.

Haha, love these cute owls! And they come as printables, so it is really easy to use them. For those who normally do not use digi images - all you have to do is open this file and print it. Hero Arts already prepared everything for you. And you can't beat $ 0.99 for a sheet full of the sweetest owls that you can print as often as you wish! You'll find this printable here.

Ok, off to wake up my little girl. Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Hugs and Love,
Vanessa

Hero Arts Owls

Happy Monday! After a long, exhausting day at work I came home and found out about the new Hero Arts challenge this month! What a sweet surprise that the new theme is Creatures and Cards for Kids! Why? Well, because I was so inspired by the last Social Club Thursday that I had some fun creating cards with cute owls over the last days! Perfect :) Here are two cards I made that will be entered to the new challenge:

This first one is a hybrid card. I used the Sweet Owls printables here. The cutie is colored with Copics. The background is stamped with the Woodgrain stamp using Versamark ink. I cut out the image to adhere it with foam tape for more dimension. Here are two more pics:

Now to the second card. A colleague asked me to create a card for her to give to a couple who is getting married. They love pets and cute things. So I made her this card:

I just had to use the woodgrain stamp again. Here I heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. The copic-colored owls are sitting on a tiny branch from our garden. (Glossy Accents is very useful for adhering things like branches to a card!) That sentiment says something like "heartfelt best wishes". I had to use a German one for this card.

Owl-Mania. I have another fun-colored owl sitting on my desk that will find its way onto a card soon. Hero Arts owls really are some of the cutest!

I hope you like my owls! Hope you are all well, sweet friends! Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Hugs and Love,
Vanessa

A Layout

Happy Thursday! No new Vinnie Pearce collections yet, but I was in the mood for some Vinnie, so I decided to try another digi layout. My dad took the sweetest photos of my girl dancing with bubbles and I had to use them:

I used various elements from different kits that are available here.

Hope your day is beautiful! Thanks for visiting!

Vinnie Pearce Reno Collection

Happy Tuesday! Today a new Vinnie Pearce Collection is being released at 2Peas! The new Collection is called Reno and contains a lot of great elements for masculine projects. But I wasn't in the mood for masculine and because the kit offers so many possibilities, I decided to create this:

Hehe, I have to admit I love this one! The cute birds made me smile and I thought those party hats would make them even cuter. Don't you love that woodgrain paper?

And then I wanted to try another layout. Here it is (click to enlarge):

You can find this collection here. Have a super sunny day everybody and thanks for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa
