Colored Pencils Flowers

Hi there! Summer is over and I hope to get back into motion and share a lot of projects in the near future. Today I enjoyed coloring a Paper Smooches image with colored pencils on cardstock for the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

I love these flowers, they are so fun to color! After I had colored them with Prismacolors, I trimmed off the bottom part of the panel and adhered it to the card base that I had covered with the checked patterned paper. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, trimmed it and adhered it to the card.

Chalkboard Christmas Card

Today I had some time to play with my stamps and made a chalkboard christmas card for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #5 "embossing". Here it is:

For the tag, I used the Simon Says Stamp exclusive set "Tag Sayings". First, I stamped the tag, cut it out and stamped the red striped border. Then I stamped the German sentiment saying "happy holidays". The same tag stamp was used on the black card stock panel, I stamped and heat-embossed it using white embossing powder. Then I did the same with the holly leaves from the Paper Smooches Holly Jolly set. To create the chalkboard look, I smeared white pigment ink over the panel and added some shadows with a white pencil. The stamped tag was adhered with foam tape, then I die-cut two holly leaves, adhered them to the card and finished everything off with "berries" aka red rhinestones.

My Last Paper Smooches Cards

It's been such fun and honor to have been Paper Smooches' Guest Designer for September. I wish it could last longer, but alas, it's coming to an end. So here are my last Paper Smooches cards that were posted on the Paper Smooches blog.

Both cards were made with the super cute Holly Jolly set. Here on the first one,  I stamped a border using the outlined holly leaves and the bold berries. The leaves are colored with Distress Inks and water and onto the berries I added Glossy Accents in the end. You can see it here in the detail shot:

The second card uses non-traditional colors:

I love the bows that come in the set and all the elements are so fun to play with! I stamped the baubles first, then using a ruler and a black marker, I drew the strings. Now I stamped the bows and pearls. And there had to be some shine, so I adhered matching sequins in the end! I hope you liked my projects. I enjoyed creating them very much! Thanks for visiting!

Another Paper Smooches Card

Hello! I am back with another Paper Smooches card I made as their Guest Designer for September.

I used the Christmas Words 2 Dies. First I die-cut the holly and the berries from cardstock and inked them with Distress Inks and an ink blending tool, then I arranged them onto a card base with a woodgrain-embossed cardstock panel. The sentiment was die-cut from white glitter cardstock
and adhered with tiny foam tape squares. To finish the card off, I added white sequins. Here is a close-up:

For this one, I used the Stitched Frames Dies, the Tag Stitched Dies and the Just for you stamp set. A perfectly cute set for gift giving! I hope you like what you see!

Paper Smooches September Guest Designer

I feel so lucky to be Guest Designer for Paper Smooches in September! The new release is wonderful and I enjoyed working with the products I received so much! Today, Kim posted a card of mine here on the Paper Smooches blog and I wanted to share it on my blog to tell a bit more about how I created it:

For this card, I used the new Ornaments dies. They are so cute and versatile! I die-cut the ornaments from white card stock and inked them with Distress Inks and an ink blending tool. The tops were die-cut from black card stock. On this photo it's difficult to see, but I used foam-tape for the pink ornament.  The strings are drawn with a black pen. This sentiment is from the adorable set Holly Jolly. To finish the card, I added matching enamel dots. I hope you like it! For Two Challenges

Here comes a card for two challenges. The Paper Smooches July Designer Drafts Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes

Here is my take on the sketch:

For the background, I masked half of the card and applied Picked Raspberry Distress Ink with an ink blending tool. The cat from the Paper Smooches Party Pals set was stamped and heat-embossed with black embossing powder. Then I colored it with Distress Inks and water. I fussy-cut it and adhered it to the card with foam tape. The German sentiment says "congratulations". I hope you like it!

Another Nautical Card

Here comes another nautical card. Love this theme! Perfect for summer and it would be suitable for a man. I made the card for the Paper Smooches Sparks "Anything Goes" Challenge and Virginia's View Challenge

This is the card:

First, I die-cut the boat with all its elements from this cardstock panel. Then I colored the parts with distress inks mixed with water and a brush and layed them back into place. The bottom part of the panel was slightly inked with an ink blending tool. The hey is colored with the same technique as the boat. So fun to do!

A Yummy Cupcake

For today's card, I watercolored a yummy Paper Smooches cupcake. It's one of the cute free digis available here. I made it for the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge:

Here it is:

I wanted it to be very happy and colorful. The cupcake was printed onto watercolor paper, then I colored it using Distress Inks spritzed with water. The cherry on top is covered with Glossy Accents for more shine. The birthday was die-cut from a left-over piece of watercolored paper. The happy is from the winnie & walter The Big, the Bold, and the Happy set. The sequins topped the card perfectly. I hope you like it!

More Fun With Stencils

I had some more fun with stencils, this time I mixed embossing paste and some ink blending:

First, I applied embossing paste onto my panel, using the Heidi Swapp stencil again. Then, I punched some circles from a piece of paper and used this as stencil, applying ink with my ink blending tool. That cute owl is a free digi from Paper Smooches, I colored it with Copics and cut it out to place it onto the Paper Smooches hello die. I'll enter this to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge and the Paper Smooches Guest Designer search.

Anything Goes

This week, there are two "Anything Goes" challenges. One on the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog and one on the Paper Smooches Sparks Blog:

I had some fun with Paper Smooches dies and here is the result:

No stamping here. But I hope you like it nevertheless! I used the rainbow die to create the stripes, adhered them to a strip of white cardstock and then die-cut the hello and trimmed the white strip along the rainbow. I hope this wasn't too confusing :o)

Fun With Dies And Colors

I just finished a card having fun with dies and colors. I made this for the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge using the inspirational photo and for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge Die Crazy. Here is the photo I was talking about:

And here is my card:

I first created my watercolor background using the simple wet-on-wet technique with Mowed Lawn and Mustard Seed Distress Inks. Then I die-cut the words and the ampersand and covered them with black glitter embossing powder. The ballon is a stamp from the Party Pals set. It is heat-embossed with the same embossing powder and colored with Dusty Concord Distress Ink using a mini ink blending tool.
So fun and easy to do…

Some Ideas for Using Big, Bold Word Stamps (Video)

Happy Friday! I recently played around with my beloved Winnie & Walter stamps and thought I'd make a video on how to create a watercolor/handwritten look with the stamps. Here are some ideas for using big, bold word stamps:

On the first card, I created a background with ombre hellos. Don't you love this look?
Here comes another card:

Here I used a very simple technique to create the colorful happy. And a last card:

Even simpler. I wanted to achieve the look of the words written with a fountain pen. Check out the video to see how I did it. And sorry for the blurry parts! And the stammering - I had to be quick with the cat hopping onto the keyboard and my girl playing next to me…

Using a Stencil

Happy Sunday to you! I am back with a card using a stencil on the background. I'd like to enter this to Virginia's View Challenge #2 and the Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge:

I first cut a panel from white cardstock, layed the Studio Calico stencil over it (just to the top left corner) and used some washi to keep it in place. Then I used sponges to apply various distress inks to create this gradient look. After removing the stencil and adhering the panel to a card base with foam tape, I die-cut the Paper Smooches Hello from black cardstock and adhered this with tiny bits of foam tape. Very simple!

Baby Bee

I was in the mood for something cute yesterday, so I made this baby bee card for the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Anything Goes.

The sweet bee was paper-pieced from various Dear Lizzy pps and pink vellum. Here comes a close-up of the wings, I just added some Wink of Stella Glitter for her sparkle:

Lawnscaping Challenge: Clean and Simple

Oh, I almost forgot to upload the card I have for the Lawnscaping Challenge No. 78: Clean and Simple.

Here it is, just in time:

I used the wonderful Stitched Journaling Card die, just can't get enough of it. The banner and the heart come with the set, too. The clouds are from the Into The Woods dies and the little bird is from the Happy Easter set. On the bottom I used a strip of the sweet Let's Polka Petite Paper Pack. I didn't have Lawn Fawn's Hello die, so I used the Paper Smooches die for it. Hope you like it!

A Card To Make Someone Smile

Today's card is supposed to make someone smile. It worked for me :)
The weather is horrible, so I got some me time and played with the new Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Anything Goes:

I used the cute Party Pals, but "deleted" kitty from the image. Mr Chubby Bunny was stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed with white embossing powder. I colored him with watercolor pencils. The balloon is cut from blue vellum. Yep, he still makes me smile :)

Washi Card

Last night I played around with my washi tapes and made a card for the My Mind's Eye March Challenge:

Letzte Nacht habe ich mit meinen Washis herumgespielt und eine Karte für die My Mind's Eye März Challenge gemacht:

I first adhered strips of MME washi to a panel of white cardstock, then I stitched the edges on one side to give it the look of a quilt. For some contrast, I used black stickers from the Cut & Paste line and some MME black enamel dots and die-cut the hello from black cardstock.

Ich habe zuerst Streifen vom MME Washi auf ein Papierstück aufgebracht, dann die Streifen an einem Ende entlang genäht um dem Ganzen einen Quiltlook zu verleihen. Für Kontrast habe ich mit schwarzen Aufklebern aus der Cut & Paste Serie gesorgt, ausserdem mit schwarzen MME Enamel Dots und dem gestanzten Hello.
