Welcome to the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Special Thanks Blog Hop!! You should have arrived from the wonderful Erin Schreiner.
Sigh. My heart has been very heavy ever since I received this email about Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine closing its doors. What?? My magazine??? Until that day, my crafting life has been consisting (among other things) of creating cards for magazine calls, waiting for happy acceptance emails, preparing accepted cards to make their journey over the pond and waiting for the magazines to hit the newsstands.  For 4 years. After about 250 published projects. All the people working there were so sweet. I got my daily dose of THE Susan Opel on Facebook, Instagram or the Paper Crafts Connection blog. The Go-To-Gals inspired us immensely. They brought us news from CHAs, the newest trends on the Moxie Fab World, showed the hottest products being released and everything else a paper crafter was looking for every day. Now this will be no more. The end of an era. To say thank you, to wish all the lovely people from PC&S all the best for their new adventures and to honor their work, we are doing this blog hop today. Here comes one of the last cards I did submit to the last ever PC&S submission call:

I used the My Favorite Things stamp set "You're Super". The chalkboard background was created using white embossing powder, white pigment ink and white pencil on black cardstock. The girl was die-cut and stamped onto white cardstock, then I colored her using Copics and gave her the mask that I die-cut from black cardstock. She is popped up with foam tape.
Dear PC&S ladies and Matt, I think you are super, awesome, unstoppable and I am sure your new adventures will be wonderful! Wishing you all the best!! Thank you for all the Gallery Idol competitions, the World Card Making Day celebrations, the endless inspiration in your magazines, for connecting paper crafters from all over the world, for making us feel special! Two Pubs

I haven't been sharing my pubs for a while, so I thought I'd share two pubs today. First is a card from the Stamp It! Techniques, Vol. 2:

I used various Hero Arts stamps and inks. The technique here is masking. The magazine is available here. 

The second card is published in the special issue Practical Solutions for Paper Crafters, Vol. 2:

Here I used the washi tape as starting point for the design of the card. The triangles are the half of a diamond shaped die from Hero Arts. This issue is available here.

Hello

Today is a good day. It was the first night in two weeks without the need to take a painkiller, I got a Paper Crafts cheque, a huge box full of goodies from Northridge Publishing and even sunshine! I got out my camera and took photos of projects and this card fell into my hands:

Heute ist ein guter Tag. Das war die erste Nacht seit zwei Wochen, in der ich keine Schmerztablette nehmen musste, ich habe einen kleinen Scheck von Paper Crafts bekommen, eine riesen Box mit Material von Northridge Publishing und dann auch noch Sonnenschein! Da hab ich gleich meine Kamera geschnappt und ein paar Werke fotografiert und dabei ist mir diese Karte in die Hände gefallen:

My Other Winter Crafts and Another Card

Hi! Today I have another christmas card and I wanted to share photos of other winter crafts from our home. First this card:

I was inspired by a photo on pinterest to try these cute little guys. I just glued a wood pearl to the top of a pine cone, made a little hat and a shawl from felt and drew them a face with markers. The top of the hats are either little pompoms or tiny bells. 

Ich war von einem Foto auf Pinterest dazu inspiriert worden, diese kleinen Kerlchen auszuprobieren. Ich habe einfach eine Holzperle auf die Zapfen geklebt, eine kleine Mütze und einen Schal aus Filz dazu gemacht und ein Gesicht mit Filzern aufgemalt. Die Mützen werden entweder von einem Bommel oder einem Miniglöckchen bestückt.

These ornaments are made from airdrying clay. So easy. Just like baking cookies without having to bake. We rolled the clay, stamped it with Hero Arts stamps and used cookie cutters to cut them out. We used Fimo which is really lightweighted.

Diese Anhänger sind aus lufttrocknender Modelliermasse gemacht. So einfach. Wie Plätzchen backen ohne dass man backen muss. Wir haben die Masse ausgerollt, mit Hero Arts Stempeln bestempelt und mit Plätzchenausstechern ausgestochen. Wir haben Fimo verwendet das schön federleicht ist.

I finally learned how to make these traditional dimensional paper stars. Love them and made lots of these!

Ich hab endlich gelernt wie man die traditionellen Fröbelsterne faltet. Ich mag sie echt gerne und habe eine Menge davon gemacht!

Oh, and I rediscovered knitting. I haven't been knitting since I was a child, but I couldn't resist these pretty loop shawls. Now I am hooked and made 4 different colors already. It is so cosy to snuggle up with a blanket and a tea and knit...

Oh und ich hab Stricken wiederentdeckt. Ich habe nicht mehr gestrickt seit ich ein Kind war, aber ich konnte diesen hübschen Loopschals einfach nicht wiederstehen. Jetzt hat es mich erwischt und ich habe  schon 4 verschiedene Farben fertig. Es ist auch so gemütlich, sich mit einer Decke und einem Tee einzukuscheln und zu stricken...

My little one loves making these perler snowflakes!

Meine Kleine liebt es, diese Bügelperlen Schneeflocken zu machen!

And finally I made these felted acorns. Love their fluffy look.

Und schliesslich habe ich diese gefilzten Eicheln gemacht. Ich mag wie flauschig sie aussehen.

Mailable is my motto for christmas. One year, I made pretty cards with lots of embellishments. A button here, a button there and some lace and big bows and then? I wasn't able to send them all. It was just too expensive to send big and bulky envelopes to everybody. So now I try to create cards that are flat. And not too heavy. This one is at the limit. But I wanted it to be very pretty for you :) Sewing these little banners is so much fun. I just die-cut small pieces from patterned paper (Echo Park's Very Merry Christmas collection) and sewed them together. Easy. The sentiment is printed directly onto the card base. I changed the color of the sentiment in Photoshop first.

Verschickbar ist mein Motto an Weihnachten. In einem Jahr hatte ich mal hübsche Karten mit vielen Verzierungen gemacht. Ein Knopf hier, ein Knopf da und ein wenig Spitze, eine dicke Schleife und dann? Ich konnte sie nicht alle verschicken. Es war einfach zu teuer, dicke, ausladende Umschläge an alle zu schicken. Also versuche ich jetzt Karten zu machen, die flach sind. Und nicht zuu schwer. Die hier ist an der Grenze. Aber ich wollte sie extra hübsch für Euch machen :)
Diese kleinen Banner zu nähen macht mir viel Spass. Ich habe einfach kleine Teilchen aus Designpapier ausgeschnitten (Echo Parks Very Merry Christmas Linie) und sie dann zusammengenäht. Einfach. Der Spruch ist direkt auf die Karte gedruckt. Ich hab vorher die Farbe in Photoshop verändert.

Now to the cards I made for you. Each of the designer chose a design "rule" from the issue. We created a card and then just disregarded a bit of the "rule" to make the card even better. Hopefully :)
My design "rule" is symmetry. Here comes the card following this rule:

See, everything is symmetric. You could cut the card into half and then have two identical halves. My husband liked it like this. My daughter, too. But for me, it was too boring. Here comes the card where I broke the rule a bit:

It is not much, I just adhered the butterfly a bit lopsided, moved the sentiment a bit to the right and arranged the rhinestones more playfully. I like it better this way, what do you think? (Ha, maybe I'd better not know :))

What inspires you most? For me, it is the product. I can't define my style. If someone asks me to do, I am not able to say purely CAS or classicly elegant or shabby chic or graphic or cute. I like to play and I like to be inspired by the product I am working with. So Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook collection inspired me to make something more playful:

Was inspiriert Euch am meissten? Bei mir sind es die Produkte. Ich kann meinen Stil nicht definieren. Wenn jemand danach fragt, kann ich nicht sagen, dass ich purestes CAS oder klassisch elegant oder shabby chic oder grafisch oder süss einzuordnen bin. Ich liebe es herumzuspielen und vom Produkt mit dem ich arbeite inspiriert zu werden. Also hat mich Amy Tangerines Sketchbook Kollektion inspiriert etwas zu machen, das etwas verspielter ist:

I made this journal from 3 cards (4 1/4 x 5 1/2). They are assembled with the yellow patterned paper panels. Really easy. If you would like to see a tutorial on this, just let me know. On the pages I used various patterned paper from the collection and combined them with Hero Arts/Studio Calico stamps. The washi tape makes fun and easy tabs. I wish I had washi in more variations! Mmh, this collection makes me want to take out my watercolors and play. Like I did here on a card that is published in the current Paper Crafts issue:

Ich habe das Journal aus drei Karten (10,5 x 14) gemacht. Sie sind durch die gelben Designpapier Panele verbunden. Sehr einfach. Wenn Du gerne eine Anleitung dazu hättest, lass es mich wissen. Auf den Seiten habe ich verschiedene Papiere aus der Kollektion verwendet und sie mit Hero Arts/Studio Calico Stempeln kombiniert. Das Washi gibt schnelle und lustige Reiter her. Ich wünschte ich hätte mehr Washi in verschiedenen Varianten! Mmh, diese Kollektion macht, dass ich am liebsten meine Aquarellfarben rausholen will um damit zu spielen. So wie auf dieser Karte, die im aktuellen Paper Crafts Magazin veröffentlicht ist:

Here I used my watercolors for a fun background and heat-embossed the image and sentiment above. In the current Paper Crafts issue are so many amazing ideas for playing with paints! Get yours here!
